WordPress Post Tags 101

Recently, we’ve had several questions about WordPress post tags.

  • What are tags for?
  • Are tags like categories?
  • How do I add tags?
  • How many tags can I have per post?
  • Are tags required?
  • Do tags have archive pages like categories?

One why I like to work with tags is to use them to identify the keywords of my post. Making it easier to group my content together, and helping readers quickly identify the type of content within the post.

We use the Scribe plugin from Copyblogger Media, and one of the things I love about this plugin is that it will help you identify the most accurate and useful tags for your post, based on the content of that post.
